That loss of strength (and the speed that goes with it) is a very gradual and almost unnoticeable process until, as you say, the mid 50s or so. Interesting observation re the manual labour of those old veteran athletes. I think there's a balance to be had there - working very long hours, 10 or so, or even the 12 hour shift work in a manual job is obviously not advantageous.Anyway, good to hear you're going well re the legs etc. Looks hot as buggery there - but you have a lovely location to run if you can get out early.
